Hello I’m hoping someone here can help me with my ignorance of pollination.

My one and only adenium obesum (desert rose) recently developed a seed pod. Yesterday I noticed the pod had finally ripened and opened up so before all the seeds blew away I collected them. I would like to plant the seeds just to see what grows but I’m wondering will the seeds be viable or sterile? Can the desert rose pollinate it’s self or was there some kind of hanky panky going on behind my back?… :)

    Any comments appreciated.

if the plant is outside, then it's likely some creature took care of things. i'm not sure if they're self-fertile or not. i suppose it's possible!

i'd get the seeds sowed as soon as you can - the longer they sit, the less viable they become.

Thank-you joclyn for your response… today I have to go out and finish the back to school shopping…(can't wait till that’s over with) and I will stop to pick up a seed starter tray on the way I feel little excited with this experiment I hope some thing will grow…You have a great day…. :^)
