    Thanks guys.
Nope not night bloomers, it's just an effect from using iso 100 and a high depth of field in poor light so i used the flash to get some light on the plant its self lol
    sorry about the jargon :)

Yes, those are very cool looking - thanks for the great shots. It's amazing what beauty grows in the wilds.

I see you're into cycling, huh Greerish? Me too. You could say I am a bicycle addict, but I am in very good cardiovascular shape, from all the consistent biking. I just love it, and cycle nearly everyday!

I especially love night riding when the side streets are all deserted, and it's just me, my bike, and tunes from my cd-man. Nothing quite like it - to me.

It's too hot here, and our streets are always occupied.

    That's really too bad.

Even when we're sitting at a muggy + 40 degrees celcius, I will still go out riding. I enjoy the breeze. Our temperatures are very cool these days, but we are just recently getting a bit warmer now - thankfully. All the plants are starting to take off for me outside because of the warmth.

Looks like summer has finally arrived!

Thanks guys. The insect's a hoverfly no bigger than the nail on your first finger the larva feed on aphids so useful to have around the garden

LoL i dont drive so i dont have a choice but then i do enjoy cyceling as well, with music on or off, around the forest or just see where i go randomly. :)
as for roads i do it but i've had a few close calls so i Kinda prefer not to.

Plus more hot peppers ripening tonight...

    : )

P.S. I collected tons more 'long red cayenne' seeds tonight out of a fresh pepper I had for dinner! It was delicious.

Here's some Cat's Claw flowers and hoverflies - this is a weed species here, and it's an absolute pain in the patooka to remove it because the vines are woody and covered with wicked recurve thorns.

And just for fun, a lovely red Schlumbergera flower.

I found some ferns with seed pods in our weed patch this morning along side a nice flowering ivy, pics tomorrow maybe.

I wish our weeds looked as nice as yours Lorax. :)

    Nice shots.
Those chillies look tasty, is that a scented pelargonium?
It may be a weed but it makes a nice photo, sounds interesting to get rid of tho :s
I like epiphytic cacti quite a bit, didn't realise the smaller ones came in that shade it's really nice to see.

Yes, my 'berry swirl' pelargonium is a scented type.

    : )

P.S. Here's my little tadpole darlings this morning. They're so tiny but see the 2 on the side? It is overcast today, but hope you can make them out. If you look really closely, you can see 2 other super tiny ones, near the bottom on the side, as well..

Nath, the Schlumbergera is growing on a rock, in white sand and quartz gravel, with a bit of volcanic ash mixed in. All of the Quito Botanical Gardens' cacti are in the same situation, and they get quite big. That mix simulates the conditions of the southern desert quite well.

Greerish, basically one puts on the elbow-length rose-pruners' gloves, a sturdy leather apron, and eye-protection, and goes into the patch of cat's claw with a machete. I made the mistake of just wearing regular garden gloves once, and my hands got all chewed up. Still, the wild Xanthoxylum is a worse weed, because the thorns are longer.

LOL, the thorny things here have no end, Greerish, and it extends even to the trees! (Check out Ceiba pentrandra if you want to see what I'm on about). However, the plants that freak me out the most are definitely the Oleanders.
