I just adopted several plants from a neighbor that is moving overseas, to be added to the many plants in the apt. already (housemate walked into living room/kitchen and pronounced it is now officially a jungle).

I am hoping someone might be able to identify some of them.

The first one I believe to be an orchid, afraid it is not in bloom but it does have very distinctive leaves and pseudobulbs.

The second is some type of succulent that I have never seen before. It is very impressive and healthy. Also the succulent in the upper right of the picture I believe to be a Haworthia but I would love if someone can confirm it is or what it is if I am wrong.

YES! that is definitely it. Googled the name and saw plants exactly like mine. Thank you ever so much. I think it is most lovely and really wanted to find out what it was so I could take the best of care of it.

Now any people knowledgeable on succulents out there?

I thought it might be as a broken stem bled a liquid much like other aloes I have but I never saw anything like it before, do you know the species? All others I have had where like the better known types that grow in a single cluster of upright leaves.

The first pic is Ledebouria socialis, its not an Orchid at all. its in the Hyacinthaceae family.

Yes I noticed that on some sites I visited when given the name. It is also considered a succulent and has been grouped in a different spot in my apt. since then :) I was quite surprised on what I found out about it. I thank you all for your help.

If anyone has a more detailed identification of the two succulents in the second picture it would be most appreciated. As for their care it is obvious by just looking at them to see what they need. But I am a bit of a stickler when it comes to taxonomy and love to know the names of the lives in my care. I also keep many gallons of aquariums with fish and plants, mostly from Ancient Sundaland (Malaysia & Western Indonesia)

For the Aloe, check out A. arenicola or maybe A. ciliaris. There are so many species and cultivars that it's tough to find a match....

Yes one description of Aloe ciliaris as "nearly vining stems" describes it well. I had never seen an Aloe that forms a elongated stem before and wow one site I came across shows a A. ciliaris of nearly 9 feet in length. Thank you very much for your help.

Can any one help me confirm or deny that the other succulent is a Haworthia?

Definitely a Haworthia, but which one I have no clue. I'm usually satisfied by Genus with those.

oh! i didn't even notice the other plants in the pic!! yes, haworthia on the right rear and a sanseveria on the left rear.

if rosemarie stops in, she should be able to tell you the variety of haworthia.
