    Hi all,

Here is yet another tree in my backyard in Edmonton that needs to be identified. It's about 7ft tall, and has small horizontal lines on the branches (see photos).

    Thanks,
    Will

An elm, most likely Siberian Elm.

Definitely an elm but probably not Siberian.

American Elm is very common as a boulevard tree in Edmonton; this is likely a seedling (albeit a large one).

Does anyone know specifically what kind of elm this is?

As I said before, I'm nearly 99% certain that it's American Elm (Ulmus americana) - they're extremely common boulevard trees in Edmonton. When I lived there, there were 5 big ones along one side of my house, and I was constantly weeding out the little seedlings that popped up in my garden. They looked exactly like what you've got in your photos.
