Some of my tomato plants have a purple tinge on the underside of the leaves. Are they deficient in something. There doesn't seem to be any correlation between the type and the purple tinge. They have all been treated the same as far as watering and feeding. Any ideas???

One idea that may or may not be the problem is temperature. Tomatoes will show a purple tinge if they have been chilled - by putting outside too early or maybe by growing them by a drafty window. If you suspect this is the case, move them to where they will be warmer and they should be fine.

An idea too. If the nights are still chilly but the days are good, plant them now, then get containers that fit smoothly over them. Place containers on top at night with rock to keep from falling over. Remove in the morning. I have been doing it with no problems in the morning. Roots build growth, plants get their light.
