A lot of shops sell it incorrectly labelled as a bamboo, unfortunately.

Hi, it is a Dracaena sanderiana, but is called lucky bamboo in stores. I have two of them growing in water and they seem to do well, but like low light.

Funny, I have mine in boggy soil and full sun, and they're around 3' tall from the 3" pots they started in last year...

I have two of these growing in semi moist soil with Syngoniums, mostly bright indirect, some sun, some dapple.
The name, "Lucky bamboo" is a selling point...

It's good you planted yours in soil. After being in water a year, or so, they can/will go down hill, turning yellow and mushy.
