I live in the Southern California area. There seems to be an insect / parasite that is killing some of the smaller stems on my Valencia Orange tree. I have been keeping it in check by trimming the dead branches back to green wood, but I am concerned as I lost a lemon tree to the same parasite a few years back when something similar attacked the entire trunk of the tree. Any suggestions? (See Picture)
I don't think that is an insect--I think that is gummosis. Here is a link:http://www.ipm.ucdavis.edu/PMG/r107100411.html
