This tree was given to me as a house warming present by my mother 10 yrs ago. It was 3 ft, in a pot. Now it is about 30 ft tall. It gives a strong fragrance during June-July and is popular with Asians seeking the fragrant flowers. Joggers pass by and have given me different names of this tree but doesn't sound right when I check it out on the internet. Can anyone ID this tree? Thanks

Appears to be Magnolia x alba (syn. Michelia x alba), White Champaca.

This actually not the Michelia Alba. Alba has shiny dark green leaves and it flowers all year long. The one you have is a different kind of light green leaves and kind of fussy. Yours only flower once a year. I learned this from a nursury. But you are doing a great job with this. This is one the of biggest one I seen! There is actually 2 big Michelia Alba tree (with the shiny green leaves) in Legoland ( I was just there last week).
