i found a group of these today in a mixed forest, northern n.y. caps are 3 - 5 cm, dark gray. stems also 3 - 5 cm and same color. pores are light grey in color, small, round. stems have unusual "spotting" that resemble pores to the unmagnified eye. anyone seen these before or know what they are?

Nice mushroom. It's a species of Tylopilus. Did you happen to get a spore print or notice any staining of the flesh in the cap or the surface of the pores?
