mystery plant

    Can anybody identify this plant , we have 2 of them in our garden , they grew from seeds that were in a mixed bag.

    Datura--commonly known as Jimson weed. A very toxic plant, but the flowers are lovely and often fragrant.

    Thank you very much , we'll do a bit of research on it . Goodness knows how it got into our seeds.

    It looks like a cultivated variety. It has very nice purple flowers. These do come in seed mixes. The fruits are spiky pods, about the size of a walnut. They are full of seeds. You might want to watch for those. Datura will germinate readily from seeds dropped in the garden--for several seasons.

    Thanks ,I guess we'll be removing them , I see it's very poisonous and I don't want to harm the deer and rabbits.
