    Might be Acalypha reptans (syn. A. pendula), Dwarf Chenille Plant.

    Haven't been able to absolutely identify with any ground cover type plants I am familiar with.
    Something about the node distance between the petioles makes me feel that is quite significant, for it is larger than most on vines.
    Also, the leaf shade/texture seems similar to several of the vines with some form of "creeper" in the common name.

    Excelent point - besides the visual, are there any other clues such as:

    Is there a scent with the plant or when the leaves are crushed?
    What soil did it come in?
    Even something from experience with prefered light or moisture can help to show prefered living conditions.     could this plant be a Ficus Golden King

    Looking closely at the leaf texture and shape of edges, I would have to say no.
    Ficus has waxy leaves, smooth edges, and lack of noticeable veining.
