vine borer

    What do people do for the dreaded squash or pumpkin vine borers. I have tried killing the moths. By the time I get 1 good winter squash the plant dies with 3 vine borers in it

    The best thing you can do is use insecticides once you realize that they're there, which you'll see early if you see sawdust or excrement. Once they bore into the vines, insecticides probably won't help.

    You can take them out of the vines yourself, if you want. Winter squash is the one they go for the most. Here's a site.
