    What's th name, hight, width, and characteristics of this tropical tree or large 14' bush sunflower like?

    I'd say it's a girasol - tropical sunflower.

    Thanks, but aren't sunflowers Annuals?

    Down here they don't seem to be - there's nothing to kill 'em so they just keep going.

    The leaves look like tithonia.

    There are perennial sunflowers, so not sure I would rule that out. Have you seen flowers on the plant?
