I've been reading "the Omnivore's Dilema" and I'm on the foraging part. Anyone know where to look for chanterelles. No exact spots mind you (that would be too much) but what kind of spot do they like, oak trees? pine tree? under leaf cover? Any info would be great or if you could recommend a good book for the West Coast (I'm in Vancouver)

    Hi

You can buy a good book at any good bookstore. But what i would suggest first is to go to your nearest library it's free. You will find references there. In my region chanterelle almost anywhere. Mix wood with old spruce tree are a good spot.
