    Robinia??

It looks like it could be a locust tree of some kind... Hard to tell from the picture. What kind of seeds does it have?

Are we sure this is Albizia

Are people really sure this is a Albizia? I think it looks like Acaia baileyana. Is there flowers to this tree?

    Albizia

Well now that I see the leaves it is not Robinia. I think that Albizia is the right one. Acacia generally has smaller leaves. Can you grow Acacia in Vancouver?

    Next question regarding Alibizzia

Is this a good tree for Vancouver home gardens? If so ... where can I buy it?

Commonly sold and planted down here, so you should be able to find it in Vancouver nurseries as well. Choose a hot location with good drainage, plenty of room for its often low, broad canopy. Look for a named selection with deep pink flowers, such as 'Ernest H. Wilson', as the oridinary, pale pink ones are much less effective visually.

If Dr Straley included this species in his Vancouver tree book, you should be able to look in it and find locations of representative specimens you can view.
