KarinL, I must have the Chaenomeles as it's definitely a shrub. Absolutely stunning profuse orangey-red flowers. So far they've stayed rather nice looking (but very thorny so we go around--rather than through--them). I'll definitely NOT prune them now. Thanks.

 

But you can also make jam or jelly with Chaenomeles :-)

 

Dear Michael F...okay, now I must admit it. I'm lost in a kitchen, and buy jam/jelly!
