    Hi all,

I have a baby rose that I started from a cutting last year and it seems to be doing pretty well. I have reason to believe it is Rosa setigera, a wild climbing rose native to my area.

The cutting was 4-5" long and had no more than 2-4 leaves on it when I took it. Between March and April this year, the plant exploded in growth. It is now about 10" tall and has too many leaves to count. The thing is, it seems to be "stuck" there for at least the last couple of weeks.

My question: Is this a normal pattern of growth for a rose, or does it signal something lacking? The plant otherwise looks very healthy. I may be a little overly ambitious, but I would expect even more vigorous growth from a wild rose.

It has probably expanded the leaves it had already pre-formed in the bud, and is now pausing shoot growth to concentrate nutrients and energy on enlarging the root system before starting any new leaves.

If in a pot may now need more room.
