Identification: Ukon - greenish yellow white doubles, bronze leaves, mid-season

    This is not a question, but comments and corrections are very welcome.

    Ukons are primarily recognizable by their double yellowish or greenish off-white blossoms that appear the same time as the bronze leaves. The buds are off-white tinged with pink and green. The third photo shows the Ukon blossoms on the right, with Tai Haku blossoms on the left for colour comparison (also visible in the background of the first photo). Photos were taken April 12 at International House at UBC.

    The 'Ukon' that is commonly planted in Vancouver is somewhat different than [the what was originally posted here, photos and rest of text now moved to the Not-a-Ukon thread - edited by wcutler]. The images attached here and in the first posting in this thread are more typical of what we know as 'Ukon'.
