We bought a bunch of strawberry plants last year and planted them. I think, this year, the plants doubled the amout we started with and are huge and healthy. I have seen two ways, mounding the soil covering the mound with plastic and mounding covering it with straw, I'm sure there are other ways though. We had a friend of our neighbors want to look at our garden and he said he plants them in cinder blocks, I guess filling the holes with soil and planting the plants in the holes. He says it works well. I would guess it provides the lime they need too. I think we need to do something with them so they won't be too crowded next year. What techneque do you use when planting strawberries?
