    I think Tom's right.
I may be wrong but I'm afraid he's right...

    Lol interesting!

I just took these photos of the top....sorry about the light but it's the middle of the night. Hopefully you can see the sphagnum moss poking out of the soil.

    Satisfied?

And a pic of a few others i'm hoping will also have roots/fungi (let's see) too!

Satisfied with what, Mani? I'm sorry I don't understand what you're trying to demonstrate with these last two pics. It's really great that you got a new one to root in sphagnum after your cuttings in water died. No one is disputing you got a new one to root in sphagnum, but it seems you tried to pass these off as the exact same cuttings in water in your original post. They're not, are they?

They are the same. My original post is asking if the ones in water were ok to pot which i did into sphagnum moss, hence the sphagnum moss. Once i see roots/fungi come through then they will go into soil.

Very interesting comments, I lean on the side of being positive about what Mani is telling us. I have never had success with maple cuttings in water and so much want to see him succeed.
I wonder what J @zfritz thoughts are on the roots ??

To help the doubters, taken at the same time as my original pic.....do the leaves look like they were dying?

And if you read the thread I even mention that I want to use sphagnum moss.....

    Thanks @Acerholic!

I think, Mani, the cuttings that I had in water when they had those white bumps from where the roots are born, I plant them in moss, and in the moss is where they really rooted, this should be clarified by Mani, to be sure.

I think you mean he instead of I? Apart from the first I.

I can't say that for sure - if you look closely at the photo of the shot glass there are thin white protrusions visible from the protuberances, but yes, they took off in the moss. That's if they are protuberances and if it is a root and not a fungus, of course!

No changes to note. The one I planted seems to be still surviving, the branches raised a little but not discernible from a photo.........I'll let you know if I see any other "roots"!

I took a closer look at the one I planted and he was there again staring back at me, poking his little fungal head at me!

@Acerholic Thanks D! I haven't even thought that far ahead yet, the process is so slow I am just taking things as they come!

@Mani agreed it is a long route, but there are good signs that it is happy.
