    Thanks, Newt. Just a bit of update: the lower branches are not as clamped as previous mentioned. They've spread out somewhat. The 5 foot pcv that goes into ground, never gets totally empty. There seems to be 5 inches of water that does not away. After I water slowly, the PCV is filled up. After a few hours, it goes back to 5 inches. I'm thinking that that's because of the solid clay below where they dug out the hole, which will never go away.
    I water slowly and thoroughly about once every 3 weeks.
    I appreciate all the help. It cost us quite a bit to transport this tree from my daughter's yard.
