Well went for a walk in the woods today. look at what I found. here are 2 more so any idea on the first two pic's
The first one is a coral mushroom. I have a book of ~200 coral mushrooms, and many look alike. I see some crowned tips, so it could be Cavicorona pyxidata if it was growing on wood. Here's a link to a great description of that mushroom http://botit.botany.wisc.edu/toms_fungi/jun2001.html. The purple one is probably a Cortinarius and the second to last one is probably a Suillus. The last sure looks like Boletus frostii - but I with hold my opinion until I saw whether the inside flesh bruised and what color it changed. great pictures! Rob
All possible ID's that were given, I'll agree on...not positive with the purple Cort as there's so MANY of them right now! Gorgeous finds btw...wonderful images!
it is nice to have a place to show the things I see where I live and play. the mountains and hill here in Asheville nc are some of the best in the world. here are a few pice of my woods.
Truly beautiful playground! Another place I like to share my finds is a site called MushroomHunting.org They share finds, locations, observations, recipes...all sorts of neat stuff there as well.
