The Maple Society Open Science Initiative (OSI) is pleased to present Peter Gregory's Acer sieboldianum Miquel (1865) profile, with photographs by Hugh Angus. Siebold's Maple is known for both for its stunning red and orange autumn colors and ease of cultivation. We hope you enjoy the fascinating account of this beautiful Japanese Maple's introduction, during a time when Imperial Japan was still largely closed to outsiders.
