Hi, I have a new vine growing in my garden that I have never seen before. The leaves are very large and showy. The stems have short, stiff hairs on them that makes them feel sticky. It's growing a couple of feet a week!

    Similar to a hop vine.

Thank you, I think you are correct. I have never seen this vine in my area before (northern NJ, just south of New York State), do you have any idea how it could have ended up in my flower garden?

With hops, the wind is the 'culprit' - the small seeds can blow a fair distance.

It seems very hardy, would probably be fine! It's been well over 90 degrees with no rain for the last few days - I've watered all my other plants, but the hops plant is going strong. It's now starting to wrap itself around my deck furniture, maybe going a little TOO strong. I wonder if there are any uses for the plant, such as drying the leaves to make tea. Any ideas?
