I have photos of two fungi growing on man-made wooden structures.

A Taken in Richmond on a wooden bridge by a pond.

B Taken on Mayne Island on wooden steps in a garden.

I have labelled them at various time as Phaedlus schweinitzii or Gloeophyllum sepiarium. I switched the labels several times because I was not sure.

    - Are they the same species of fungi?

    - Are they Phaedlus schweinitzii or Gloeophyllum sepiarium or something else?

Hi David - Good call; it is very likely that your second photo is of Gloeophyllum sepiarum, however without a shot of underside, there is the possibility of it being another species in that genus. The first photo might be the same, given overall shape and habitat, however with that colour, definitely need undersurface confirmation.
