I took this photo on a family trip to Mt. Rainier. The plant was found on an open ridge above Sunrise Lodge. Even with a species list of Mt Rainier (http://web3.foxinternet.com/biek/) I have been unable to pin it down. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't been able to put much time into this ID, so it is a bit off the cuff. The aster family can be quite problematic to ID from a photo, and if someone disagrees with me, I'd likely cede to their opinion.

    Try:

Oreostemma alpigenum var. alpigenum (formerly known as Aster alpigenus) - the tundra aster

I do agree with your id. The picture itself is a couple of years old and since I was with family at the time I didn't get much of a look at the plant save the photo. Many thanks for your efforts.
