I have a vine that runs up one corner of my house and and across my front eves.
About 50% to 60% of the leaves (worse in some areas) have turned brown.
I'm wondering with the harsh winter whether it just took a beating or whether something really bad is happening.
It's been there for years and the neighbour said it's never looked like this before.
We're new to the house and haven't gone through a season, so I don't know what's normal.

    see attached images.

This winter has done a number on most of these clematis armandii in greater Vancouver. I would wait to see what new growth occurs, and remove the dead branches at that time.

Normally we would be seeing the glorious flowering along with the strong fragrance of these specimens about now!
