I have a dwarf-type variety of a crown of thorns that has given off a long shoot with a large flower at the end. Can someone explain what is going on? Thanks.

This is the 'oldfashioned' crown-of-thorns, Euphorbia milii. It looks like one of its flowering branches has developed a malformation of its growing point, rather like what is classed as fasciation. There are some who find this attractive.
