Taken on Aug 5 too-darn early in the morning. Apparently not a common sight in Whitman County (this was about a half mile outside of the town of Palouse), according to Washington Dept of Fish and Wildlife - far more typically found in the northern counties of the state.

Not sure if this is a resident moose or a visitor from nearby Idaho - only a thousand moose are resident in WA according to that DFW site.

I really hadn't expected to find a moose in a wheat field.

Isn't that neat. Nice Picture. Wonder if the moose is enjoying his dayly supply of wheat? ;>)
