Acer palmatum 'First Ghost'

no pics ,but my first ghost, haven't attractive fall color...

 

Oh well I found that it is supposed to have gold to yellow to orange fall color, but haven't seen any pics.

I am attaching a pic of one of my first ghost maples. Maybe gold to orange is after red. LOL. Sam

 

ooh. So pretty.... I can't wait to get this one... after Purple Ghost..... and KIK hehe :) Oh yeah, David, the latter is on the way either this week or next week :-D

Thanks Sam! by the way Johnny mine is doing great--although my Fairyhair has the skinnier lobes at this time. But then again, the Fairyhair's more mature--but I think it's younger by the graft. GREAT!

My 'first Ghost', as is now in early spring 2010. This is really a must see tree in this season.

I have a new location for my First Ghost, I will see how it does in this location

 

i have moved this tree a couple time and now i think I have a good spot for it. Here is the morning sun on it in mid sept

 

Fall color for 2013 is a darker yellow than some of the years before.

 

Acer palmatum 'Martha Ghost' - One of the times Talon visited my nursery he said that if 'Martha Ghost' looked this good for him he would still be producing it. One of my favorites of the Ghost series

 

Tim, that can't me the ugly little Martha I sent to you? If it is, then I too, besides Talon would liked to have more Martha's Ghost that look like yours!

 

My Acer palmatum ' First ghost ' is so different in June 2020 than 2019. I thought I would post both photos. They never cease to amaze !!

 

The 10th July 2020 photos is showing that my First ghost is happy and able to cope with the heat and strong winds. Hoping for a good Autumn show this year.

 

27th July 2020, a little wind damage on my First ghost, but very little.
This is the closest I can get with my camera, but I think it shows the varigation that is the norm for this cultivar.

 

Day three of extreme heat 36° C, the regular updates as promised. Today expected to be hotter. Photo 8th August 2020.

 

11th August 2020 still very hot and in fact yesterday was the hottest I've ever seen in my garden. Ground temperature hit 48° C by my trees.
They are all now suffering. But I will continue the Summer diary as requested.
My First ghost is now in transition phase ready for Autumn. Not doing too bad atm.

 

19th August 2020, lashings of rain for last 3 days, everything is picking up, so a good Autumn display is still on the cards.
It would be easy to say that this is not a ghost at this time of the year, but let me assure you it is. This is how First ghost looks during July and August every year.
So if you are thinking of adding this one to your collection, this is what you can expect in Summer.

 

22nd August 2020 and I have new growth appearing on my First ghost. Never happened before at this time of year. I am praying for no early Autumn frosts.

 

August 29th 2020 and Autumn colours are very fast approaching. It even feels like we are in October today rather than August. 7° C at the moment.
An update as requested on my First ghost new growth. Very ghost like and soooo pretty IMO. Will this shoot survive the Winter, who knows these strange weather days!!????

 

September 3rd 2020 and Autumn is very quickly upon us now. But new growth!!? Yes there is !!
Such a dark cloudy day today, that any colours are very welcome. My First ghost is not letting me down there.

 

7th September 2020 and in Southern England it is getting warmer once again. So surprised to see my maples with such dry leaves this morning. But this year is so very different for so many reasons!!?
