    Hey all,

I've recently purchased a Ficus Retusa bonsai tree from the local store as it looked like it was going to turn out like all of the others in the bunch (which believe me wasn't a pretty sight, all of the leaves had fallen off/rotted).

I've read a number of guides online about how to tend this plant but I can't seem to find the specifics, i.e. where on the plant I cut when pruning.

Which brings me to my main question, I've added a picture of the new tree (which is apparently 3 years old according to the container it came in) and I'm wondering whether it needs any pruning now as it is or not and how/where to cut on the branches/sprigs.

Any and all help is much appreciated. Thanks all!

    Dave

Yes, you will soon lose the effect if you do not prune the shoots back.
