We had here in the Okanagan an exceptionally cold winter In fact the curve of daily max. temperatures was almost constantly below the all time average from late November through the winter until early April.

Winter jasmine usually blooms between late January and mid March. This year the flower buds opened up right on cue late January, but the petals were all a brownish straw colour instead of their bright yellow like forsythia.

Now in April there is a second bloom with about half the amount of blossoms the vines usually get in mid winter. I found that very interesting and worth mentioning in this forum.

As a foot note, I have been taking cuttings every year, starting late November, to force them to bloom and continued that throughout each winter, to have fresh flowers in the home and also added them to Christmas Arrangements. This year the November cuttings bloomed, but not the later ones.
