The leaves of my Clematis armandii are turning brown. They are not wilting though. The tips of the leaves start turning brown and continues to travel down the length of the leave. Some of the leaves are completely brown. Am I losing this plant? See the pictures.
    Thanks!

Poor leaf color indicates it is not doing well in that spot. Clematis require moist, well-drained soil and a cool root run. Plant another shrub or place a rock to shade the root zone if the sun is beating on it. Sample the soil and have it tested to see if nutrient content and pH require modification. Inspect leaves with hand lens in case the browning is being caused by mites, rather than poor site conditions.
