I am from Namibia, we have planted oranges (cambria) and lemons (midknight valencias), beginning of winter we had frost and the idea was to water the trees prior to reaching 0 degrees, what are your thoughts? Would something like this work or not?

The trees are young, about 2 years old, we have wrapped them in aerothene and also painted the stems with PVA>

As a note, I did not water before reaching sub-zero temperatures as I was afraid of doing more damage by watering, i.e. water freezes onto the grafting stem destroying the whole tree.
