I posted a short while ago asking if anyone knew of an arborist on the Sunshine Coast. After a search I found an arborist who was willing to prune my very large fig tree and the information he shared may be useful to others. Apparently pruning should only be carried out on dull days when the sap is not running so strongly and care should be taken to cover bare skin particularly when using a chain saw. He knows someone who did not take precautions and ended up in hospital for 3 weeks with serious burns. Apparently the sap, particularly when dispersed in fine drops by a chain saw, is very reactive in sunlight.

    Just a thought.

    Wow.
    Thanks for the heads-up.
