variegated ginkgo branch sport

    Ginkgo branch sport found on 1 branch of large local tree summer of 06. I am hoping that the variegation will be present again this year and will graft winter 07-08

    Looks like existing clone(s) sold as 'Variegata'.

    I agree, does look like pictures I have seen. I don't think this sport offers anything new, but it was really exciting to find it. Couldn't believe my luck. My propagation intention is just to preserve it and 'have it at home.'

    If your graft is successful, and all leaves of your resulting plant hold variegation without reversion, then it would be superior to the current clones in the trade which revert easily.

    Just how stable are the various varigated ginkgos and which one is the most stable? I am looking to try one in my garden this year.
