While looking up another's mushroom ID....I came across this name.
These mushrooms were found in NE Kansas on and around Oct.10th of this year and the last 2.
    Very prolific white spore
    Under Oaks
    Moist but not gooey caps
    Almost stringy but strong stems
Stems are med. sized...not thin or thick...
Caps are very strong...don't break easily
    Almost smells like cucumber?
Cap does not ever flatten...stays more like a bell shape. Starts whitish/cream and darkens to light tan with extreme age.

Looks a lot like Hypsizygus ulmarius. They grow well in soil where there is wood waste decomposing.

Did they have a veil ?

Matsutake are the only Tricholoma I am familiar with and they have a veil, but I'm not sure if this is characteristic for the whole genus.(!?)

No viel, ring....and they are definately ground mushrooms. There is no wood waste at all in this area. Never was as long as I can remember. It was cleared for almost 50 years as a zoo....then they planted the Oaks and took the zoo out. The oldest oak in that area is almost 50 years....
