I am growing everbearing strawberries in one of those clay pots with all the holes. I read somewhere that everbearing strawberries should have all their runners cut off and just let the mother plant produce. This article also mentioned that all the first flowers should be taken off the mother plant for the first fruit set. Is this true? Any responses appreciated regarding growing strawberries in a pot.
    Thanks

That's the usual process. For June bearers that means first year there's nothing...The point being, they get an established root system capable of setting some larger yields.
Now for everbearing, I'd do it, and hope the season brings on more flowers...Why not?
