    Hi,

I planted my crape myrtle aboit 5 feet from my home. I am not sure what the name is, but they get 12' tall.
    Is this far enough away?

    Thanks,

Should be ok. Myrtus communis may be what you're looking for.

Personally I would only plant Lagerstroemia indica ' nana ' that close to the house but that is your decision . Is that the only spot you can find for it ??

    Hi Mel074,

Do you know the name of the crepe myrtle you planted?

Probably Not. For A Tree That Can Reach A MAximum Height Of 12 Feet.. I Would Think About The Size Of The Canopy In Relation To The Distance Between The House. My Guess Would Be As Long As You Keep It To The Desired Shape, It Should Be Ok. However I Would Use Dwarf Varieties Since They Do Not Grow Too Tall. So In The End, It All Depends In The Color And The Size Of The Tree You Want. I Also Think That Knowing The Cultivar Of The Tree Would Help Because Different Cultivars Reach Different Heights. But I Agree With The 'Nana' Variety.

Crape myrtles 60 ft. high have been measured in North America. There are also miniature selections, and numerous intermediate cultivars. How big yours will get depends on which particular kind it is and how it does on your site.
