Hello,im a new member, hoping to learn much from this wanderfull fotum...

In more practical maner,i was hoping to get some help in identifying this pine that sow during my resent visit to kyrgizstan, the photo was taken in the city of karakol, not far from the chinese border,in a first glimps it reminded me of a sub-specie of a red pine,it has a real nice redish bark and short nedles (about 6 cm) the cones are rather small as well (about 5 cm,if im not mistaken),if anybody knows something about the pines of northen-central asia,i would love to hear it...

Pinus sylvestris (Scots Pine), probably var. hamata from the Caucasus region.
