Hoping someone can help identify a growth on my palm tree. This started out as what looked like a leaf growing sideways opened up to release these beautiful pink threads.

I'm sorry i don't know the palm species (inherited from prior house owners). We live near the ocean in northern California

    Thank you in advance

It's your first guess, a flower. I see there are flowers that look similar to that on an Amazonian palm, Oenocarpus bataua, but I don't know that that is cultivated in California. Maybe there are related palms. How about replying with a post of the tree and the leaves? Not that you asked for the ID, but such a nifty flower - it would be nice if someone could identify it.
