    Hi,

I have 2 potted black bamboos (nigra?) and they are both flowering.
Is it time for the black bamboos to flower at this time?

On one pot with 8 stems, 4 are black and flowering and the other 4 are green with no flower. Should I just cut out the black ones and let the green ones grow or will they turn to flowering too?

Also, I cannot find the seeds, I opened the flowers but nothing inside.

There have been a handful of reports over the last year or so of black bamboo flowering. Unless these are exceptionally rare circumstances, all of us with whatever species it is that's flowering are about to have some serious issues within the next few years... On the plus side, though, some of us will have more seeds than we can possibly imagine what to do with, as a result of the flowering, as well as copious amounts of freshly cleared real estate to deal with. I have a good friend that would be more than happy to see his die off, as he'd get an acre or so back!

Oh, and you need to wait for the flowers to crisp out - the seeds won't be there if the flower's not ready!
