This first one I thought at first was a bleeding heart but the leaves look different from a bleeding heart (also it's more like a vine).
The 2nd picture was taken of this flower that was growing right above a stream in Q.E. Park. Thanks everyone so far for the ID's it's been very helpful.

    1. Looks like Deutzia sp or named cultivar.

    Sorry not a native shrub.
Quote wiki......" is a genus of about 60 species of shrubs in the family Hydrangeaceae, native to eastern and central Asia (from the Himalaya east to Japan and the Philippines),"

    2. Looks like Chaenomeles speciosa Rubra.

    Sorry not native.
Quote wiki....."thorny deciduous or semi-evergreen shrub native to eastern Asia."

Wow, so these are both not native to BC, I was convinced that these were wild and not planted, wrong again!

I have no idea of % figures, but I would expect most of the trees, shrubs and perennials found in the wonderful parks and gardens in Vancouver to come from all corners of the world.
