I have seen a couple of sources saying that Mahonia can be propagated from leaf cuttings. Has anyone ever tried this? Can you please elaborate on how you did it?

    Thanks,
    Travis

    Hi Travis,

Everything I've found says stem tip cuttings in summer.

I have a book that describes success with leaf BUD cuttings in fall.
    - Cut a segment of the stem that includes a leaf (& corresponding bud).
    - Trim the compound leaf down to just a pair of leaves (to reduce transpiration)
    - Angle the cut below the leaf node & treat with rooting hormone
    - Stick the cutting fairly deep in rooting substrate
    - Bottom heat apparently aids root formation

I'm attempting it with them covered so that the cuttings don't dry out. Don't know if I'm successful yet, it's only been a week.

    Good Luck
    Simon
