A friend has well established rhododendrons on her property (25-30 years old species or hybrids of many different kinds). Last year many buds developed on these rhodos but never came into bloom this year - they seemed to develop a black fungus or mold or other disease (some buds did come into bloom). The problem occurs on different plants, i.e., it is not restricted to one type. Can anyone explain this problem, and suggest a cure?

    Louis, welcome to the forums.

    Is this what's going on?

Hope to see you at the picnic this afternoon.

    Louis,

how ironic you should be inquiring on behalf of a lady I know so well!

A reply by Doug Justice to a previous post about rhododendron bud blast may be found here, hope this helps.
