Is it exotic or a noxious weed?

This is my second spring in this house, and the previous owner liked exotic plants although the large garden was pretty overrun when we moved in. Things keep popping up that I have never seen before. Last spring, a plant with spikey leaves volunteered in the greenhouse. It was interesting, so I moved one into the garden. It survived the winter, and is now flowering (sort of). Should I continue to nurture it, or kill it quickly before I regret it? Also, there is some sort of lily-like plant with large variegated leaves, that is springing up here and there. Don't really like it, but there are places where not much else will grow (north side of the house) so I'm tempted to leave it unless it is invasive. There are several more, but I'll start with these two.

in other words, number one can be a weed, and number two is an exotic.
