This is my first post so it would only polite to say hello to you all and remark on such a great site.
My first post is a question(i know typical newbie, always want answers!) I have an agave varigata and i was wondering if there is any way of(yes you guessed it) encouraging suckers that can be planted on? Thanks Andy

What is the species f Agave you are reffering to? Most of the species give suckers on their own. Some nee to get mature before they sucker.

Its an agave americana 'variegata'. It is approx 5 years old and has one sucker at the moment. Thanks for quick reply. p.s It is also in a pot if that changes anything.
