This is the first bloom on my Devil's Trumpet plant. The plant grows vigoursly and gets quite large, sometimes three feet in diameter and about three feet high with new blooms daily. The side branches may need support, since they are brittle, and sometimes break at the junction with the main trunk in a strong wind, spoiling the symmetry of the plant. The plant blooms until frost and self seeds in the spring. This is not a problem in Zone 5, but I understand in a warmer climate they can be a hassle to control.- meaning one has to pull them from the ground individually. This particular one I started in the greenhouse in early March and planted outdoors on 24 May 2006.
