Does anyone have information about Chocho trees? We were given seeds from my husbands Uncle in Columbia that took 5 months to germinate and finally got a seedling! I only know that the very hard seeds are drilled for jewelry. We would appreciate any knowledge on this tree as we would like to grow it to maturity. Thank You, Zeb
I remember eating chocho (chayote) in Jamaica, used it in salads much like jicama or cabbage, sort of a slaw type ingredient. I know it is also cooked, yet I found no benefits to that and it reduced the wonderful crunchiness of the raw chayote. I think it is more of a vine, as cucumber is, and the tree effect is achieved by staking or training on a support. Hope this helps.
