    Here’s a couple of images I took last week of the newly acquired Castilleja in the North American section of the UBC BG Alpine Collection.
    This plant is semi-parasitic and although it can survive without a host, it tends to languish and eventually die, which helps to explain why so many people have difficulty growing it. There are likely several species of grasses, and perhaps other plants, that can act as host, but the best results are usually seen when Festuca species are present.
